News Timeline
- China adopts heavy metal reduction plan, AFP, February 22, 2011.
- Notable. ""More than 30 major heavy-metal poisoning incidents have occurred since 2009, posing a grave threat to public health, especially to children," Zhou said. Last month 28 children, including some less than a year old, were rushed to hospital in the eastern province of Anhui with lead poisoning caused by a local battery factory. A report earlier this week found that up to 10 percent of rice grown in China is tainted with heavy metals."

- Ban on lead in toys hits ATV, motorbike industry, McClatchy, February 13, 2011.
- Researcher Finds Elevated Lead Levels Across City, WDSU.com (New Orleans), February 10, 2011.
- UCI study: 'Eco-friendly' LED bulbs loaded with lead, arsenic, Orange County Register, February 10, 2011.
- Comment. Keep in mind that: (1) it's the dose that makes the poison; and (2) mere exposure isn't toxicity. Exposures to lead, arsenic and other supposedly "hazardous substances" from typical LED uses/handling aren't likely to be high enough to be of concern.
