Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA)
From
(Redirected from Treated wood)
Summary
Chromated copper arsenate (CCA) was used on pressure-treated wood for more than 60 years to prevent rotting and termite infestation of outdoor structures, such as decks, docks, fences, retaining walls and even some home foundations. Despite no evidence of danger posed by its use, manufacturers voluntarily withdrew CCA in 2004 to contain a scare orchestrated by the Environmental Working Group.
